You know, the idea is to ask people if they'd like a free hug. If not, you don't touch them, but if they do, you just hug them.

Giving hugs is something the alliance I am in do on a regular basis. If we want to give someone a hug, we type in *hug for...* and the name of the person we are giving a hug in the alliance. It can progress into a virtual group hug of sorts. Someone types in *hugs for all* and usually the response is *hugs back* And it always makes everyone feel a lot better.

If it weren't for the fear of getting grabbed by the police, all because I hugged a stranger, I would happily do that in the real world.

Actually, if some random person came up to me and asked if I wanted a free hug I'd probably punch them in the throat. It may be a nice thing to do for some, but I find it pretty damn creepy.
